Already taken care of. Or do I need to ask?
Babu is a sleep app for the household, not for one account. Both parents see the same picture, every entry shows who made it, and none of it needs a connection.

Two parents, one picture
Other apps solve sharing with a shared login. Then, at three in the morning, the question of who gave the last bottle has no answer. In Babu everyone has their own access, and every entry carries the name of whoever made it.

Every entry has an author
One parent on an iPhone, the other on Android, a grandparent helping out. Whoever wrote it is shown alongside it.

One subscription per household
Bought once, not per person. Who paid stops mattering the moment it is done.

Widgets on both phones
The lock screen tile shows the same thing on both, because both hold the same data.
In a basement at night, on a plane, on holiday
The database sits on the phone, and that is where writing happens. Syncing comes afterwards, once there is a connection again, and never holds up an entry. A sleep app that will not open without a connection is missing at exactly the moment you need it.

Estimates, not report cards
Babu tells you roughly when the next sleep window starts, and says where that number comes from. There are no streaks to break, no bars asking to be filled, and no sentence about how your child is doing. The app talks about its own estimate, never about your child.
Next nap around 1:40 pm, estimated from your entries over the past few days.
Only 3 of 7 nights logged. Your baby slept 42 minutes too little today.

The app shows you how well it guesses
After a few weeks Babu shows how far its own estimates were off: the median gap in minutes, how many days it got right, and which days were left out of the count, with the reason. Sick days and travel days drop out, and it says so.
None of the apps we compared Babu against publishes its own accuracy.
What happens to the data
An infant's sleep, feeds and nappies are health data. They are treated as such here.
Local first, remote maybe
With syncing switched off, nothing you record leaves your phone. Syncing is a decision you make, not the starting state.
Servers in the EU
If you do switch syncing on, the data is held in the European Union.
No tracking, no advertising
The app contains no analytics and no advertising component. Not a small amount you cannot turn off: none at all.
Take it with you, or delete it
Exporting to a file and deleting everything stay available at all times, subscription or not.
What Babu costs
30days, everything included
Not a stripped-down start: the full app is there from the first day. After that, you decide.
Monthly

Yearly
39,99 €
works out at 3,33 € a month
One-off
99,99 €
no subscription, no renewal
All prices are per household, not per person.
And when the subscription ends?
Babu turns read-only rather than empty. Nothing you recorded disappears, exporting still works, and the prompt to buy is never a window you cannot close.

Common questions
Does Babu replace a doctor or a sleep consultant?
No. Babu is a tool for writing things down and keeping them in order. It makes no diagnosis, gives no treatment advice and measures no vital signs. If you are worried about your child, a paediatrician is the right address, not an app.
Does Babu monitor breathing during sleep?
No, and that is deliberate. Devices that monitor breathing or heart rate are medical devices and carry the obligations that come with that. Babu measures nothing on the child.
Does the app really work without an internet connection?
Yes. Everything is written to the phone first. Syncing with a server happens afterwards, and only if you have switched it on.
What if I fall asleep before stopping the timer?
You correct the entry afterwards, in one step. A running timer can be moved backwards without discarding it.
Can both parents record things at the same time?
Yes. Both have their own access to the same household. If two people change the same entry at once, it is resolved field by field rather than by throwing one version away.
How do I delete my data?
In the app's settings, without going through support. Locally it is deleted immediately and completely. On the server, deleting your account deletes immediately as well; individual deleted entries remain as a deletion marker for 90 days so that your partner's phone learns about the deletion.
